Floral Insight: A bouquet from Daily Flowers is not assembled. It is composed. Our florists hand-tie each arrangement in our Amsterdam atelier, drawing on the season's finest blooms sourced directly from the grower. The result is a gift that carries real presence the moment it is held.

Every bouquet here is tied by hand in Amsterdam from stems bought that week. What follows is how to pick one when the photograph tells you less than you would like.

What you are paying for in a bouquet

Two things: the stem count and what is in it. A bouquet of forty tulips and a bouquet of nine garden roses can cost the same and look nothing alike, because roses are expensive per stem and tulips are not.

Volume comes from hydrangea, from branches and from greenery. A bouquet that looks enormous in the photograph is often built on one hydrangea head. That is not a trick, it is how florists work, but it explains why price and size do not track each other.

Choosing the size

For a desk or a bedside table, small is right and anything larger gets moved. For a dining table or a hallway, go one size up from what looks correct on screen, because a bouquet always reads smaller in a room than in a photograph.

If you do not know the space, send one with a vase included. It removes the guess and it means the flowers go in water within a minute of arriving, which adds a day or two to how long they last.

Florist's choice

Florist's choice is the bouquet we build from whatever came in best that morning. It is the only product here where you do not see the photograph first, and it is usually the best value in the shop, because we are not holding stems back to match a picture.

Pick it when the recipient trusts flowers rather than a specific flower. Pick a named bouquet when the colour matters, for instance pink for a birthday or white for sympathy.

Our bouquets

Absolutely Amazing Flowers is the one most people land on and the safest thing to send to someone you do not know well. Pastel Princess is softer. Wonderfully Wild is loose and field-like. Chic Burgundy Beauty is the dark one.

Ordering and delivery

We deliver Monday to Friday in the Netherlands, Flanders and Brussels. Orders placed before 09:00 arrive the same day. Shipping is EUR 7,00 in the Netherlands and we drop it from EUR 50. In Flanders and Brussels it is EUR 9,95, dropped from EUR 75.

At weekends our own couriers take over and the cut-off moves to 10:00. Around Amsterdam and Utrecht we charge nothing, elsewhere in the Randstad it is EUR 9,95.
