Graduation gifts from Daily Flowers

A graduation gift has an awkward brief. It has to mark years of work without being a family heirloom, and it usually has to arrive on a day you were told about at short notice.

Flowers, or something to open?

Flowers work because they are public. A bouquet on the table during the celebration is seen by everyone who came, which is half the point of the day.

A gift set works better if you are not there. Bonbons with prosecco or champagne keeps, travels, and gets opened when the room has emptied out. Both are in this collection and plenty of people send one of each.

Which colour for a diploma

Bright rather than romantic. Red roses read as love and land oddly from a colleague or an aunt. Yellow, orange and mixed brights read as celebration and suit almost any relationship.

Timing a graduation gift

Ceremonies are announced late and often fall on a weekday afternoon. Ordered before 09:00, a bouquet arrives the same day, which covers most of what goes wrong.

If the date is set, send it to arrive the morning of, not during. A delivery in the middle of a ceremony reaches nobody. Add a handwritten card, because the card is what ends up in the box with the diploma. Pair it with a vase if the graduate has just moved into student housing.

Ordering and delivery

We deliver Monday to Friday in the Netherlands, Flanders and Brussels. Orders placed before 09:00 arrive the same day. Shipping is EUR 7,00 in the Netherlands and we drop it from EUR 50. In Flanders and Brussels it is EUR 9,95, dropped from EUR 75.

At weekends our own couriers take over and the cut-off moves to 10:00. Around Amsterdam and Utrecht we charge nothing, elsewhere in the Randstad it is EUR 9,95.
