Purple is the colour most people skip, and that is exactly why it lands. A purple bouquet on a desk or a dinner table does not look like every other bouquet, and the person receiving it notices that.

Which flowers come in purple?

Purple tulips, roses, lisianthus, delphinium, anemone, lilac and orchid. Lilac and delphinium give height, the others give body.

Purple tulips are a spring flower and the deep varieties come close to black at the base. Purple roses are rarer than red or pink and priced accordingly, which is part of why they read as a considered choice. Delphinium is the tall one, useful when a bouquet needs to stand up rather than spread out. Lilac has the strongest scent of the group and the shortest season, roughly four weeks in late spring.

Purple, lilac or deep violet?

Lilac and lavender tones read soft and sit well next to white and pale green. They suit a bedroom, a christening, a quiet thank you.

Deep violet and aubergine read formal and expensive. They work on a dark table, in an office, or as a gift to someone whose taste you are trying to match rather than guess. The two halves of the range send quite different messages, so pick deliberately.

Ordering and delivery

We deliver Monday to Friday in the Netherlands, Flanders and Brussels. Orders placed before 09:00 arrive the same day. Shipping is EUR 7,00 in the Netherlands and we drop it from EUR 50. In Flanders and Brussels it is EUR 9,95, dropped from EUR 75.

At weekends our own couriers take over and the cut-off moves to 10:00. Around Amsterdam and Utrecht we charge nothing, elsewhere in the Randstad it is EUR 9,95.
